What type of cars do you have for learners?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Manual and automatic cars are equally popular across the UK, and your choice is completely to your wishes. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test is essential for UK learner drivers looking to pass the driving theory exam. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. Practice before the main test
Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Pass our mock test and the DVLA theory practice test will be a breeze, as will the actual theory test that comes afterward.

Booking your driving test
What is the process of booking a test like?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Not clear enough? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
What is the duration of the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on test day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
