One of the highest first time pass rates
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that failure on the first driving test attempt is normal. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time around. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first-time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK so you can drive back from the test centre fully enjoying your trip.

What are the available learner car types?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). You are just a phone call away from getting expert advice.
For more information about automatic driving lessons, please contact us.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test in one of the available test centres.
How long is each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. With our system of training, and the way we have structured our courses, however, you can expect to spend around two hours in a session. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver a semi-intensive course. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

What is Pass Plus?
Simply put, Pass Plus is a scheme targeted at new drivers in the UK who’ve passed their driving test. Many new drivers face the challenge of building up their confidence to drive on public roads. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. The Pass Plus training scheme will further help by giving you an opportunity behind the wheel to explore major roads outside your regular vicinity. Want more information? Find out more about our Pass Plus scheme and how it can help you by calling us now.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. The test consists of a number of videos which depict a typical road scene and a developing hazard. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Theory Test Practice
Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. Smart Drive UK makes provisions for mock theory test practice modelled after the DVLA driving exam. In order to qualify for the actual theory test, you need to pass the DVLA theory practice test and passing our mock test means you can do it.
Walthamstow driving test
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses which probably will be very similar to the test routes. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Booking your Test
What is the process of booking a test like?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Sound confusing? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
Obtaining a full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
