High first time pass rate
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving test the first time. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. It is our pleasure to announce that we have some of the best first time pass rates across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
We know that there are many students that want to learn how to drive in manual cars, and there are also those that prefer automatic transmission. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). You are just a phone call away from getting expert advice.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

Are there tests that I must pass to get my license?
Practice before the main test
Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
Driving Test Southall
You are required to pass the official DVLA driving test before you can obtain your driver’s license. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Make a booking for your test
What is the process of booking a test like?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
What is the duration of the tests?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. You will have to complete the steps in the same manner, whether you are working with automatic or manual transmission. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What can I expect on test day?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Once you have passed through this stage, the examiner will test your knowledge by asking a number of show and tell questions. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. The driving test will last around 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Great job acing that practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
