What are the types of cars available for people like me?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Not sure which option to go with? Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. Are there tests that I must pass to get my license?
Mock theory test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.

The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. Where do I go to book a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. How long do the tests take?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What can I expect on test day?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
So you have completed the test
Ready for a full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
