Building your confidence
It is absolutely normal to feel scared the first time you are behind a wheel. The most experienced drivers still feel nervous every now and then. The fact that a lot of things can lead to a driving experience going south quickly means that you have a lot of valid reasons to feel anxious. When you go through our driving classes here at Smart Drive UK, the fear and doubts associated with driving will be properly dealt with. Over the years, we have been able to craft a lesson outline that addresses your driving fears while focusing on the improvement of your driving skills. As you drive with our instructors, you will feel relaxed, calm, and comfortable all through the driving process. Got a question for us? Get in touch and we’ll be delighted to respond. One of the highest first time pass rates
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving exam the first time. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first-time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving evaluation. Failing a driving exam is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another exam. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving evaluation, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options because we respect each individual’s learning style. We take pride in the fact that, as an A-class driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK, helping you be a driving success!

What type of cars do you have for learners?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on to your practical driving training until you have passed your theory exam. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory training can work in practice. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory exam when you have started your driving training.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has a unique schedule. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving evaluation that little bit faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is not only understandable but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving exam. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your exam with training in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving training, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving exam the first time. The impressive first-time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.
Booking a driving lesson Tonbridge

Manual Driving Lessons
Would you prefer learning how to drive a manual gear shift? We’ve got experts for that. When working with our skilled and experienced instructors, manual driving training becomes easy and enjoyable. Aside from driving, our instructors will take the time to teach you about how manual vehicles work. By the conclusion of your manual driving lesson, you’ll be able to safely change gears, control the clutch, and confidently manoeuvre through traffic. A major benefit of learning to drive a manual vehicle is you don’t have to learn to drive an automatic afterwards. This is because our manual training programme covers both types.
To request more information about automatic lessons, please give our A-class driving school a call on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170

New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving exam is the Hazard Perception Test. It is a mandatory exam that will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. You will be shown a series of videos during the exam that detail regular road scenes, as well as a developing hazard. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the exam. To ensure you progress to the practical driving evaluation at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

Book your tests
How do I go about booking a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving exam via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Before booking the driving exam, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory exam. Not clear enough? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK male and female driving instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The driving exam has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The actual driving evaluation takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory exam certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to evaluate your eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye evaluation. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to evaluate your ability to manage an emergency. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving exam. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving evaluation is beyond what you have already covered in your driving training, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
So you have completed the test
Ready for a full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving exam. Now, you can apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving evaluation. From day one to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
