What type of car will I be learning in?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Hampshire driving test
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Book your tests
What is the process of booking a test like?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Does this sound confusing? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
Ready for a full driving license
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
