Great chance of first time pass
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. Results have shown us time and time again that a first-time pass is a very likely outcome of your driving test.
Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We have some of the best first time pass rates across the UK.
We are waiting by the phone for you.
What are the types of cars available for learning in?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat.
However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

Where do I go to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You should only book your driving test if you have already passed the hazard perception test and the theory test. Sound complicated? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
What happens on the designated day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. The next stage involves proving that you can successfully reverse a car and drive without issue on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
Ready for a full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. Our representatives at Smart Drive UK are always ready to provide guidance throughout the process of getting a driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
