Developing your confidence
It is perfectly normal to feel scared when you get in a car for the first time. Even when you are experienced, you may still feel nervous from time to time. The fact that a lot of things can lead to a driving experience going south quickly means that you have a lot of valid reasons to feel anxious. This is why our driving lessons, here at Smart Drive UK, are heavily focused on tackling the fear and doubt associated with driving. Over the years, we’ve developed a system that can help reduce nervousness as you develop your driving skills. Excellent first time pass rate
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving test the first time. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. It is our pleasure to announce that we have some of the best first time pass rates across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Manual and automatic cars are equally popular across the UK, and your choice is completely to your wishes. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. Where do I go to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Does this sound confusing? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on the designated day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
Getting your full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
