High chance of first time pass
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Would you like to find out more? Call us to find out more about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license The test consists of a number of videos which depict a typical road scene and a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Practice to pass
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Qualify for your driving license in Castle-Vale
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Booking your driving test
Where do I go to book a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. You should only book your driving test if you have already passed the hazard perception test and the theory test. Sound complicated? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What happens on test day?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
Post-Test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
