One of the highest first time pass rates
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. Our aim is to have you master driving at your own pace and be ready to ace your driving test the first time you take it. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Mock theory test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Street driving test
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Booking your driving test
How do I book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
What is the duration of the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on the designated day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Post-Test
Ready for a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
