Here are a few more hints and tips to consider when learning to drive. Look out for more in the next few weeks.

4 Vehicle checks During your driving lessons you will be taught and/or assessed on how to correctly conduct various safety checks on your vehicle and how to operate various controls whilst driving. It is important that the vehicle is in good working order and you can operate vehicle controls. During your driving test the examiner will ask you some ‘show me / tell me’ type safety questions. You will need to show a basic knowledge of the checks you should make on a regular basis. Depending on the test you take, you may have needed to safely demonstrate you can operate your vehicle’s secondary controls whilst on the move

5 Precautions During your driving lessons you will be taught and/or assessed on how to set yourself up in your vehicle before driving off. Before you start the engine, you will need to make sure that your seat is adjusted correctly to allow you to reach all your driving controls with ease. This is because an incorrect seat position can affect your ability to take observations and keep proper control of the vehicle.

6 Control During your driving lessons you will be taught and/or assessed on how to control your vehicle in various situations. Throughout your driving test you will need to show you can use all the controls smoothly and at the correct time, such as braking, clutch control and acceleration. This means less wear and tear on your vehicle and a smoother ride for your passengers.

Remember these are just a few things to work on that may help.
