One of the highest first time pass rates
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round.
Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.
Give us a call right away for the advice you need.
What type of cars do you have for learners?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat.
However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

Booking your driving test
How do I go about booking a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Sound complicated? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What can I expect on test day?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
Ready for a full driving license

From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
