High chance of first time pass
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. Statistics show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice will work well, regardless of what you need it for, because both manual cars and automatic are common on UK roads. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

What is Pass Plus?
Simply put, Pass Plus is a scheme targeted at new drivers in the UK who’ve passed their driving test. Many new drivers lack the confidence to drive on busy public roads. But Smart Drive UK can help you build up the confidence you need to become a master of the road once you pass your driving test. Pass Plus training can further boost your confidence on the road by giving you the opportunity to experience roads outside your immediate vicinity first hand. Need more information? Find out more about our Pass Plus scheme and how it can help you by calling us now.
New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

Are there tests that I must pass to get my license?
Mock theory test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Perry driving test
In order to get your driver’s license, you will have to pass the official DVLA driving test. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Make a test booking
How do I book a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Obtaining a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
