Can I choose to be picked up and dropped off at specific locations?
If convenience and flexibility is your major criteria for choosing a driving school, you will love our service. As part of our great value services and benefits, our instructors are willing and ready to go out of their way to pick you up at one point and drop you off at another, after your driving lesson. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. To find out how we can help you with this service, get in touch with us immediately.

High first time pass rate
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. Statistics show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Nechells, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. It is our pleasure to announce that we have some of the best first time pass rates across the UK.

What are the available learner car types?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. Depending on your situation, you can decide to keep this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. One of the problems new drivers face is finding the confidence to drive on the roads. But Smart Drive UK can help you build up the confidence you need to become a master of the road once you pass your driving test. The Pass Plus training scheme will further help by giving you an opportunity behind the wheel to explore major roads outside your regular vicinity. Need more information? Call us to find out more about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. After practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, you’ll be more than prepared for the test.

Passing your driving test has just been made easier, so don’t fret. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Driving test in Nechells

Make a test booking
How do I go about booking a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Not clear enough? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.
How long are the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. The next stage involves proving that you can successfully reverse a car and drive without issue on different types of roads. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
Ready for a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. Now, you can apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
