What are the types of cars available for learning in?
There are some learner drivers who prefer to learn with automatic vehicles only, while there are those who opt for the manual or gear stick variety. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

Manual Driving Lessons
Would you prefer a manual gear shift for your driving lessons? We can deliver. Our competent and friendly instructors at Smart Drive UK make learning to drive a manual car both easy and fun. Our instructors are well experienced and can share with you vital knowledge concerning how to best operate a manual car. During your manual driving lesson, you’ll be taught how to expertly manoeuvre through traffic, safely change gears, and properly work the clutch. The best thing about manual driving lessons is that you don’t need to learn how to drive an automatic car. Manual driving lessons cover both.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is aimed at assisting drivers in the UK who’ve recently successfully concluded their driving test. Many new drivers face the challenge of building up their confidence to drive on public roads. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Pass Plus training lets you leave your usual roads to experience other roads first hand, after your initial training has familiarised you with major road conditions. Interested in more information? New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

Are there tests that I must pass to get my license?
Increase your chances of passing the DVLA test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Driving Test Reading
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Book your tests
Where do I go to book a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
What is the duration of the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
It’s test day, now what?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Once you have passed through this stage, the examiner will test your knowledge by asking a number of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
What follows after the test?
Getting your full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
