High chance of first time pass
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

Manual Driving Lessons
Would you prefer a manual gear shift for your driving lessons? Then look no further. Smart Drive UK’s skilled and experienced instructors make manual driving lessons interesting and enjoyable. Our instructors know what they’re doing, and will take time and be patient when teaching you how manual vehicles work. During your manual driving lesson, you’ll be taught how to expertly manoeuvre through traffic, safely change gears, and properly work the clutch. A major benefit of learning to drive a manual vehicle is you don’t have to learn to drive an automatic afterwards. Our manual driving lessons will instruct you on both vehicle types.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. One of the problems new drivers face is finding the confidence to drive on the roads. New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Theory Test Practice
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Cookham driving test
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. Take any of our driving courses for a chance to pass your test on the very first attempt. We have an excellent first time pass rate that can be affirmed by hundreds of our satisfied customers.
Make a booking for your test
What is the process of booking a test like?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Post-Test
Obtaining a full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
