What are the types of cars available for learning in?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel.
However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Booking your driving test
How do I go about booking a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
What happens on test day?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
Getting your full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license.
