Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.

New Hazard Perception Test

This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Mock theory test

What is the process of booking a test like?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. How long do the tests take?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
