High first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
How long is each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test is essential for UK learner drivers looking to pass the driving theory exam. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Tests required before licenses are issued
Theory Test Practice
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Driving test in Whitworth
You are required to pass the official DVLA driving test before you can obtain your driver’s license. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Booking your driving test
Where do I go to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. You should only book your driving test if you have already passed the hazard perception test and the theory test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long are the tests?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
Getting your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
