High chance of first time pass
Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We are delighted with the fact that we have some of the best pass rates in the UK.

What are the available learner car types?
There are some learner drivers who prefer to learn with automatic vehicles only, while there are those who opt for the manual or gear stick variety. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

Fortunately, once your driving test has been passed, Smart Drive UK can be there for you by providing you everything you need to be a safe and confident driver on any road. New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Practice before the main test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Smart Drive UK makes provisions for mock theory test practice modelled after the DVLA driving exam. Pass our mock test and the DVLA theory practice test will be a breeze, as will the actual theory test that comes afterward.
Take your driving test in West-Malling
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Book your tests
What is the process of booking a test like?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Sound confusing? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. The next stage involves proving that you can successfully reverse a car and drive without issue on different types of roads. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
