Can I be picked up and dropped off in a different place?
Our service is for you, if you are looking for a driving school that can work around your busy schedule, instead of disrupting it. As one of the value added services we offer, we make sure that the meetup venue isn’t set in stone, allowing us to pick you up anywhere you may be, and drop you off somewhere else. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. To find out how we can help you with this service, get in touch with us immediately.

First time pass almost guaranteed
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. What are the available learner car types?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice will work well, regardless of what you need it for, because both manual cars and automatic are common on UK roads. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. Our aim is to have you master driving at your own pace and be ready to ace your driving test the first time you take it. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. The test consists of a number of videos which depict a typical road scene and a developing hazard. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Booking your Test
How do I book a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Sound complicated? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
Getting your full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
