High chance of first time pass
Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

New Hazard Perception Test
Passing the Hazard Perception Test is crucial to passing the UK theory test for learner drivers. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. The test consists of a number of videos which depict a typical road scene and a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Tests required before licenses are issued
Practice to pass
Why worry about passing your driving test when we have a solution to make it as easy as can be. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Take your driving test in Herefordshire
You are required to pass the official DVLA driving test before you can obtain your driver’s license. Take any of our driving courses for a chance to pass your test on the very first attempt. The hundreds of customers who have used our service and passed the test the first time provide sufficient evidence that our courses are designed to deliver results.
Booking your Test
How do I book a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
After the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. Our representatives at Smart Drive UK are always ready to provide guidance throughout the process of getting a driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
