High chance of first time pass
Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. After you fail a test, you will feel disappointed as a result of the emotion and the finances you put into the process. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. Depending on your situation, you can decide to keep this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.

We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Pass Plus training lets you leave your usual roads to experience other roads first hand, after your initial training has familiarised you with major road conditions. Do you have any questions? Call us now for more on our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Practice before the main test
Why worry about passing your driving test when we have a solution to make it as easy as can be. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Canvey-Island driving test
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a booking for your test
How do I go about booking a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
What is the duration of the tests?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. You will have to complete the steps in the same manner, whether you are working with automatic or manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. The driving test will last around 40 minutes. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
