What type of cars do you have for learners?

We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. With our system of training, and the way we have structured our courses, however, you can expect to spend around two hours in a session. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. Make a test booking
What is the process of booking a test like?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
What is the duration of the tests?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Once you have passed through this stage, the examiner will test your knowledge by asking a number of show and tell questions. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
What follows after the test?
Ready for a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
