You have to pass the DVSA Approved Driving Instructor exam, to become eligible to teach driving in the UK. The exam is done in 3 parts. The first part is a multiple choice exam which covers hazard perception. This part of the test is a tougher version of the one new drivers take to get their license. The part two of the test is where you take a practical driving test similar to the one that those seeking driving license take but it is much tougher. The third part of the test assesses your ability to actually coach and tutor. The examiner assesses the student at this stage and you get to demonstrate your ability to demonstrate lesson planning, risk management and teaching and learning strategies. The exam is tough and demanding, as is to be expected.
