You have to pass the DVSA Approved Driving Instructor exam, to become eligible to teach driving in the UK. The exam has 3 segments. The first part of the exam that deals with hazard perception is a multiple choice exam. The first part of the test is similar to the one that those seeking their driving license have to pass, but it is a more difficult version. The part two of the exam involves a more difficult version of the one that those seeking their driver license have to pass. In part three of the test, your ability to tutor and instruct is tested.
