High first time pass rate
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. After you fail a test, you will feel disappointed as a result of the emotion and the finances you put into the process. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

What are the available learner car types?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. With our system of training, and the way we have structured our courses, however, you can expect to spend around two hours in a session. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can put together a programme that best suits your needs.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test is essential for UK learner drivers looking to pass the driving theory exam. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

Mock theory test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Smart Drive UK makes provisions for mock theory test practice modelled after the DVLA driving exam. Pass our mock test and the DVLA theory practice test will be a breeze, as will the actual theory test that comes afterward.

Make a booking for your test
What is the process of booking a test like?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Sound complicated? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long are the tests?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
Ready for a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
