High first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Swansea, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can put together a programme that best suits your needs.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Increase your chances of passing the DVLA test
Why worry about passing your driving test when we have a solution to make it as easy as can be. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
Take your driving test in Swansea
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Book your tests
How do I book a test?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
Ready for a full driving license
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. Our representatives at Smart Drive UK are always ready to provide guidance throughout the process of getting a driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
