What type of cars do you have for learners?
There are some learner drivers who prefer to learn with automatic vehicles only, while there are those who opt for the manual or gear stick variety. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. We have the expertise and materials at Smart Drive UK to ensure you pass your Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Practice before the main test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Driving Test Felixstowe
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a booking for your test
Where do I go to book a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. The next stage involves proving that you can successfully reverse a car and drive without issue on different types of roads. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
After the test
Obtaining a full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. Your license will be processed by the DVLA once the results of the practical driving test are in. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
