Today, we have developed a system that is focused on helping you to develop your driving skills while tackling your nervousness. High first time pass rate
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Results show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time.
When you fail a test, the emotional and financial commitment that went into the process makes it all the more disappointing. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.
Call us right away to get started.
What type of car will I be learning in?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat.
However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.
You are just a text message away from getting expert advice.

Make a booking for your test
What do I have to do to book a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long are the tests?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on test day?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Ready for a full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. Your license will be processed by the DVLA once the results of the practical driving test are in. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. Our representatives at Smart Drive UK are always ready to provide guidance throughout the process of getting a driving license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
