High chance of first time pass
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. After you fail a test, you will feel disappointed as a result of the emotion and the finances you put into the process. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

Areas We Cover In Northamptonshire
What type of cars do you have for learners?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

New Hazard Perception Test
Passing the Hazard Perception Test is crucial to passing the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. We have the expertise and materials at Smart Drive UK to ensure you pass your Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Are there tests that I must pass to get my license?
Practice before the main test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
Driving test in Northamptonshire
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. Take any of our driving courses for a chance to pass your test on the very first attempt. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Booking your Test
How do I go about booking a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. You should only book your driving test if you have already passed the hazard perception test and the theory test. Does this sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long are the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
What to do after the test
Getting your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
