One of the highest first time pass rates
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We are delighted with the fact that we have some of the best pass rates in the UK.

What are the types of cars available for learning in?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
How long is each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can put together a programme that best suits your needs.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. Many new drivers lack the confidence to drive on busy public roads. Fortunately, after passing your driving test, Smart Drive UK can provide you the skills and knowledge to make you a confident and safe driver on any road. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Interested in more information? Contact us by phone for a friendly chat about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
Passing the Hazard Perception Test is crucial to passing the UK theory test for learner drivers. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Practice before the main test
Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
High-Bentham driving test
In order to get your driver’s license, you will have to pass the official DVLA driving test. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. The hundreds of customers who have used our service and passed the test the first time provide sufficient evidence that our courses are designed to deliver results.
Booking your Test
Where do I go to book a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. You should only book your driving test if you have already passed the hazard perception test and the theory test. Sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What happens on test day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
After the test
Ready for a full driving license
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
