We take pride in the flexibility we offer to our students, as we have instructors that are always willing to pick you up wherever you may be, and ensure you do not miss your classe. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. High first time pass rate
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
How long is each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is aimed at assisting drivers in the UK who’ve recently successfully concluded their driving test. One of the problems new drivers face is finding the confidence to drive on the roads. But Smart Drive UK can help you build up the confidence you need to become a master of the road once you pass your driving test. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. After practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, you’ll be more than prepared for the test.

Make a booking for your test
How do I go about booking a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Does this sound confusing? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
