First time pass almost guaranteed
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Haslingden, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.

What are the types of cars available for learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice will work well, regardless of what you need it for, because both manual cars and automatic are common on UK roads. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. Booking your Test
How do I go about booking a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. The next stage involves proving that you can successfully reverse a car and drive without issue on different types of roads. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
