We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long is each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Increase your chances of passing the DVLA test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. In order to qualify for the actual theory test, you need to pass the DVLA theory practice test and passing our mock test means you can do it.
Sevenoaks driving test
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Book your tests
Where do I go to book a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
What is the duration of the tests?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What can I expect on test day?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
