What are the types of cars available for people like me?
We know that there are many students that want to learn how to drive in manual cars, and there are also those that prefer automatic transmission. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). You are just a phone call away from getting expert advice.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our skilled instructors, and well-packaged training system, is such that an average of two hours each day for instruction and practice is sufficient. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Would you like to find out more? Contact us by phone for a friendly chat about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test is essential for UK learner drivers looking to pass the driving theory exam. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. The test consists of a number of videos which depict a typical road scene and a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Increase your chances of passing the DVLA test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Pass our mock test and the DVLA theory practice test will be a breeze, as will the actual theory test that comes afterward.
Take your driving test in Royal-Tunbridge-Wells
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses. The hundreds of customers who have used our service and passed the test the first time provide sufficient evidence that our courses are designed to deliver results.
Booking your driving test
Where do I go to book a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
Ready for a full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
