Do you offer the flexibility of pick up at my specific chosen location?
Our service is for you, if you are looking for a driving school that can work around your busy schedule, instead of disrupting it. As one of the value added services we offer, we make sure that the meetup venue isn’t set in stone, allowing us to pick you up anywhere you may be, and drop you off somewhere else. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. To find out how we can help you with this service, get in touch with us immediately.

One of the highest first time pass rates
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. Although it is true that some people fail, many more tend to pass. Statistics show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Orpington, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice will work well, regardless of what you need it for, because both manual cars and automatic are common on UK roads. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our aim is to have you master driving at your own pace and be ready to ace your driving test the first time you take it. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

Our instructors know what they’re doing, and will take time and be patient when teaching you how manual vehicles work. A major benefit of learning to drive a manual vehicle is you don’t have to learn to drive an automatic afterwards. Manual driving lessons cover both.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is aimed at assisting drivers in the UK who’ve recently successfully concluded their driving test. A lot of new drivers lack the confidence to drive on roads with actual traffic. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. The Pass Plus training scheme will further help by giving you an opportunity behind the wheel to explore major roads outside your regular vicinity. Need more information? Contact us by phone for a friendly chat about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Mock theory test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. Pass our mock test and the DVLA theory practice test will be a breeze, as will the actual theory test that comes afterward.
Take your driving test in Orpington
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Booking your driving test
Where do I go to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Not clear enough? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long do the tests take?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
It’s test day, now what?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
After the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. Your license will be processed by the DVLA once the results of the practical driving test are in. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.

FAQs
However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured. Will verify that your car is right for your lessons by inspecting your papers, and your insurance company will have to be notified about the driving lessons in the car. We suggest you move lessons and your vehicle only when it is safe to do so, and we normally recommend that you begin lessons in a dual-controlled car and by your driving instructor.
