Excellent first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. It is our pleasure to announce that we have some of the best first time pass rates across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?
There are some learner drivers who prefer to learn with automatic vehicles only, while there are those who opt for the manual or gear stick variety. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
How long is each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

Safe changing of gears, controlling the clutch, and confidently manoeuvring through traffic are just a few of the crucial things you’ll learn during your manual driving lesson. One of the best parts of learning how to drive a manual car is you don’t have to learn to drive an automatic separately. Our manual driving lessons will instruct you on both vehicle types.
What is Pass Plus?
Simply put, Pass Plus is a scheme targeted at new drivers in the UK who’ve passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. While your initial training familiarises you with major road conditions, Pass Plus training will let you experience the roads outside your immediate vicinity first hand. Need more information? Give us a call today to discover more about Smart Drive UK’s Pass Plus Scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Practice to pass
Passing your driving test has just been made easier, so don’t fret. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Take your driving test in Ware
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Book your tests
What is the process of booking a test like?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Not clear enough? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long will I have to wait to complete the test?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. You will have to complete the steps in the same manner, whether you are working with automatic or manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on test day?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Great job acing that practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
