Excellent first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
There are some learner drivers who prefer to learn with automatic vehicles only, while there are those who opt for the manual or gear stick variety. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. Our aim is to have you master driving at your own pace and be ready to ace your driving test the first time you take it. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

What is Pass Plus?

New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Passing your driving test has just been made easier, so don’t fret. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Qualify for your driving license in West-Mersea
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. Take any of our driving courses for a chance to pass your test on the very first attempt. We have an excellent first time pass rate that can be affirmed by hundreds of our satisfied customers.
Booking your Test
What do I have to do to book a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Does this sound confusing? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long do the tests take?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
What follows after the test?
Obtaining a full driving license
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
