What are the available learner car types?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We have both manual and automatic cars to learn in, so the choice of car comes down to you. Your choice will work well, regardless of what you need it for, because both manual cars and automatic are common on UK roads. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. You will be shown a series of videos during the test that detail regular road scenes, as well as a developing hazard. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. We have the expertise and materials at Smart Drive UK to ensure you pass your Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Mock theory test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Driving test in Stanford-Le-Hope
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Booking your driving test
How do I go about booking a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Not clear enough? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
It’s test day, now what?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. Next, you will be made to prove to the examiner that you can drive safely and effectively no matter the terrain, as well as successfully reverse a vehicle. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Post-Test
Obtaining a full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.

FAQs
However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured. Will verify that your car is right for your lessons by inspecting your papers, and your insurance company will have to be notified about the driving lessons in the car. We suggest you move lessons and your vehicle only when it is safe to do so, and we normally recommend that you begin lessons in a dual-controlled car and by your driving instructor.
