Excellent first time pass rate
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. Results show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time.
When you fail a test, the emotional and financial commitment that went into the process makes it all the more disappointing. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Eastbourne, because we have developed a curriculum that prepares you for a first time pass. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.
We are waiting by the phone for you.
What are the types of cars available for people like me?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat.
One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 0845 017 9778 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. If you like, you can choose to maintain this schedule. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
You may prefer to undergo your driving training behind the wheel of your own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

Booking your Test
How do I go about booking a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
What is the duration of the tests?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
It’s test day, now what?
The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. The examiner will ask you to drive on your own for about 20 minutes and, along the way, may ask you to complete an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
What follows after the test?
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
