High chance of first time pass

Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time.

After you fail a test, you will feel disappointed as a result of the emotion and the finances you put into the process. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

Call us right away to get started.

What are the available learner car types?

We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.

Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?

Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel.

Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.

What is the length of time for each lesson?

We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.

How often should I have my driving lessons?

Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. Regardless of your schedule, we can put together a programme that best suits your needs.

Can I have lessons in my own car?

Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.

Can I have more than one lesson a week?

If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

Book your tests

What do I have to do to book a test?

The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Does this sound confusing? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.

How long are the tests?

For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.

It’s test day, now what?

First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Once you have passed through this stage, the examiner will test your knowledge by asking a number of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.

What to do after the test

driving-instructor

Obtaining a full driving license

Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
