Is it possible to pick me up from one place and drop me off at another?
If convenience and flexibility is your major criteria for choosing a driving school, you will love our service. This flexibility is a part of our promise to our students, so our instructors won’t have any issues with picking you up at any location of your choosing. For instance, you could be picked up at work and dropped off at home after your day’s training, as long as it is not a similar area. Want to discuss how we can help you with this? Get in touch with us immediately.
There is nothing wrong in feeling scared the first time you grab the wheel. The most experienced drivers also feel nervous from time to time. So many things can go wrong while driving, so it is normal to feel anxious. When you go through our driving classes here at Smart Drive UK, the fear and doubts associated with driving will be properly dealt with.
With our experience in the driving niche, we have been able to come up with a system that focuses on the reduction of nervousness, allowing you to focus on developing your skills. All through the driving classes, our instructors will have you feeling calm, relaxed, and comfortable, three things you will carry with you for the rest of your driving life. Do you have a question? There is always someone available to answer your questions and explain how we can be of help.
Great chance of first time pass
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Results show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time.
Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.
We are waiting by the phone for you.
What are the types of cars available for people like me?
We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat.
However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

How do I book a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Does this sound confusing? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long do the tests take?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. You will have to complete the steps in the same manner, whether you are working with automatic or manual transmission. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
Getting your full driving license
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. Your license will be processed by the DVLA once the results of the practical driving test are in. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
