High chance of first time pass
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We are delighted with the fact that we have some of the best pass rates in the UK.

What are the available learner car types?
We know that there are many students that want to learn how to drive in manual cars, and there are also those that prefer automatic transmission. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. Depending on your situation, you can decide to keep this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But we cannot provide this service if your vehicle isn’t deemed roadworthy, or if it is uninsured and unregistered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. One of the problems new drivers face is finding the confidence to drive on the roads. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Need more information? Contact us by phone for a friendly chat about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
Passing the Hazard Perception Test is crucial to passing the UK theory test for learner drivers. The test is mandatory and will determine if you are qualified for a full driver’s license During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Ultimately, we are interested in a system that works for you.
What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Practice before the main test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
Driving test in Cambridge
In order to get your driver’s license, you will have to pass the official DVLA driving test. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a test booking
What is the process of booking a test like?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Not clear enough? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long do the tests take?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. The driving test will last around 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What follows after the test?
What happens before you get your full driving license?
You should be proud now that you have passed your practical driving test. Now, you can apply for a full driving license. Your license will be processed by the DVLA once the results of the practical driving test are in. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We will only have carried out our mandate when you have become a qualified and licensed driver.
