Can I choose to be picked up and dropped off at specific locations?
If you want a driving school that affords you the convenience your busy schedule needs, then look no further. As one of the value added services we offer, we make sure that the meetup venue isn’t set in stone, allowing us to pick you up anywhere you may be, and drop you off somewhere else. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. To find out how we can help you with this service, get in touch with us immediately.

High chance of first time pass
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. When you fail a test, the emotional and financial commitment that went into the process makes it all the more disappointing. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Cambridgeshire, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us right away to get started.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedule plans available that can accommodate even your busy schedule. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

Manual Driving Lessons
Would you prefer a manual gear shift for your driving lessons? We can deliver. When working with our skilled and experienced instructors, manual driving lessons become easy and enjoyable. Aside from driving, our instructors will take the time to teach you about how manual vehicles work. You’ll learn from the experts how to safely change gears, control the clutch, and confidently drive in traffic. The best thing about manual driving lessons is that you don’t need to learn how to drive an automatic car. Manual driving lessons cover both.
What is Pass Plus?

Fortunately, once your driving test has been passed, Smart Drive UK can be there for you by providing you everything you need to be a safe and confident driver on any road. The Pass Plus training scheme will further help by giving you an opportunity behind the wheel to explore major roads outside your regular vicinity. Would you like to find out more? New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. You cannot be issued a full driver’s license without passing the Hazard Perception test. You will be shown a series of videos during the test that detail regular road scenes, as well as a developing hazard. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Make a booking for your test
What is the process of booking a test like?
It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
What is the duration of the tests?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. The test includes 20 minutes of independent driving, possibly with an emergency stop. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
Post-Test
Obtaining a full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
