High chance of first time pass
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. With our system of training, and the way we have structured our courses, however, you can expect to spend around two hours in a session. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We all have different schedules. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Regardless of your reason, you can count on Smart Drive UK for driving lessons and practice in your own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. An inspection of your car to verify its valid registration, and a call to your insurance company to inform them your car will be used for driving lessons will be carried out by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We are ready to accommodate you if you have the time for more than one lesson a week. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you would like to complete your training fast by taking multiple lessons every week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

Manual Driving Lessons
Would you prefer manual driving lessons? We’ve got experts for that. When working with our skilled and experienced instructors, manual driving lessons become easy and enjoyable. Aside from driving, your assigned instructor will share with you crucial knowledge about manual vehicles, that will positively impact your future driving experience. Safe changing of gears, controlling the clutch, and confidently manoeuvring through traffic are just a few of the crucial things you’ll learn during your manual driving lesson. The best thing about manual driving lessons is that you don’t need to learn how to drive an automatic car. This is because the skills provided by our manual driving lessons will also help you drive an automatic.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is targeted to benefit UK drivers who have just recently passed their driving test. A lot of new drivers lack the confidence to drive on roads with actual traffic. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. Pass Plus training lets you leave your usual roads to experience other roads first hand, after your initial training has familiarised you with major road conditions. Do you have any questions? Call us to find out more about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. The test is mandatory and will determine if you are qualified for a full driver’s license During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. Inability to respond appropriately to the developing hazard will result in failing the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Theory Test Practice
Why worry about passing your driving test when we have a solution to make it as easy as can be. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Driving Test Aylesbury
To qualify for a driver’s license, you will have to take the official DVLA test. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Booking your Test
How do I go about booking a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
What is the duration of the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
What happens on test day?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
After the test
Obtaining a full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
