High first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe it’s normal to fail their driving test on the first attempt. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. After you fail a test, you will feel disappointed as a result of the emotion and the finances you put into the process. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We are happy to note that we have some of the best pass rates across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for learning in?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Manual and automatic cars are equally popular across the UK, and your choice is completely to your wishes. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Give us a call right away on 07760 767170 for the advice you need.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Generally, you will be advised to pass the theory test before you go for your practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat. However, at Smart Drive UK, we believe it’s better to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. Depending on your situation, you can decide to keep this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. For example, we could arrange for back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is aimed at assisting drivers in the UK who’ve recently successfully concluded their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. The Pass Plus training scheme will further help by giving you an opportunity behind the wheel to explore major roads outside your regular vicinity. Want more information? New Hazard Perception Test
Passing the Hazard Perception Test is crucial to passing the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. You will be shown a series of videos during the test that detail regular road scenes, as well as a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. Rest assured you’ll be fully prepared, especially after practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Practice before the main test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Take your driving test in Woodcock-Hill
In order to get your driver’s license, you will have to pass the official DVLA driving test. The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses. Our customers have proven that our courses are likely to result in a first time pass.
Booking your Test
What do I have to do to book a test?
The best way to book your driving test is to do so through the official Gov.UK website. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Does this sound confusing? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
What is the duration of the tests?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on test day?
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Remember that while the practical driving test can be nerve-racking, all you will be asked to do has already been covered as you went through your driving course.
So you have completed the test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. Now, you can apply for a full driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
