High first time pass rate
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.

Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
The common belief with the general public is that you should pass the theory test before you set out to take practical driving classes. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This way, you can bring what you learnt in theory practice and see how it works practically. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. Many of our clients that have the time prefer opting for back to back training every day, so they can be prepared for their driving test faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. You may also be looking to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, especially if it’s a new one. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. At the end of the day, what matters is that you’re able to grasp what is being taught and can pass the driving test the first time. The first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you are in good hands when you choose Smart Drive UK.

You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Theory Test Practice
Why worry about passing your driving test when we have a solution to make it as easy as can be. With Smart Drive UK, you can practice before the DVLA driving exam in order to ensure you are prepared. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Highters-Heath driving test
You are required to pass the official DVLA driving test before you can obtain your driver’s license. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a test booking
Where do I go to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Sound confusing? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.
How long are the tests?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. It only takes about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.
What happens on test day?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
After the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Great job acing that practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
