High chance of first time pass
A common misconception amongst learner drivers is that a fail on the first driving test attempt is normal. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. For a driving school where you’ll get the best lessons to help you pass your driving test on the first attempt, come to Smart Drive UK. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the available learner car types?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Your choice of learning with manual or automatic will be a smart one regardless, as both variants can be found all across the UK. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know you’d like to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson, so you can better plan your day. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. If you intend on using your car for the driving test, we believe practicing with your own car could be a great idea. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is that you learn at a pace you are most comfortable with and are prepared in time to take and pass your driving test on the first try. We have a very impressive first time pass rate, so you’re in reliable hands no matter your schedule or learning speed.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is aimed at assisting drivers in the UK who’ve recently successfully concluded their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Do you have any questions? Call us now for more on our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test is essential for UK learner drivers looking to pass the driving theory exam. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. You have to provide appropriate responses to the developing hazard in order to pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. We will provide you access to various revision questions, as well as our collection of Hazard Perception videos.

Get your license after passing these tests
Practice before the main test
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Qualify for your driving license in Gravelly-Hill
The driving test is the official DVLA test you have to take before obtaining your driver’s license. Taking any of our driving courses is certain to equip you with the knowledge required to sail through the test the first time. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a booking for your test
How do I go about booking a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Not clear enough? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long are the tests?
The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
It’s test day, now what?
The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. The driving test will last around 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
What to do after the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
