One of the highest first time pass rates
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. Although many people fail their first test, many more people pass. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of cars do you have for learners?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you don’t understand how each type of car fits into your specific needs and requirements, you can give us a call today and we will help you (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Can I start driving lessons without having passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There are benefits to this advice, as it is in your best interest to, first and foremost, understand how a car works before you get into it. However, our approach here at Smart Drive UK is to mix theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. Your assimilation speed and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson are the major determinants in the duration of each lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we can arrange a more flexible schedule that suits your needs. For instance, we can provide you back to back training that’ll get you sufficiently prepared for your driving test sooner. Whatever your schedule is, we’ve got you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But such a service can only be offered if your vehicle is registered and deemed roadworthy, as well as possessing comprehensive insurance. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

Our instructors are well experienced and can share with you vital knowledge concerning how to best operate a manual car. The best thing about manual driving lessons is that you don’t need to learn how to drive an automatic car. Manual driving lessons cover both.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. Many new drivers face the challenge of building up their confidence to drive on public roads. Once you’ve passed your driving test, our next job at Smart Drive UK is to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to make you a safer and more confident driver. Your initial training will get you familiar with most major road conditions, but Pass Plus training will allow you to leave your immediate vicinity to experience the roads first hand. Interested in more information? Call us now for more on our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. You have to pass the Hazard Perception test before you can be issued a full driver’s license A series of videos will be shown during the test, depicting everyday road scenes and a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. If you pass our mock exam, you can be assured that you won’t have any problems passing the DVLA theory practice test needed for you to qualify for the actual theory test.
Digbeth driving test
In order to get your driver’s license, you will have to pass the official DVLA driving test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Booking your driving test
How do I go about booking a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound confusing? Not to worry, you’ll get all the help you need from Smart Drive UK instructors who will help you through every step of the process.
How long are the tests?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will be asked to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes, and you may be asked to complete an emergency stop. You can expect to spend about 40 minutes on the driving test. Nothing you encounter during the practical driving test is beyond what you have already covered in your driving lessons, so while it may be nerve-racking, nothing will be entirely new.
Post-Test
Ready for a full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. From day one, to the day you get your driving license, Smart Drive UK is always ready to guide you through the process. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
